CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Felicia
Character Canon: Fire Emblem Fates

History: Link on the Fire Emblem Wiki

AU History: (This is required for all characters to integrate them into the setting. It can be reasonably simple, or it can be more complex. You may integrate other characters into your history with their permission.)

Canon Personality: Although she hails from the frosty climes where the Ice Tribes from the northern edge of the Kingdom of Nohr dwell, Felicia is anything but frosty in demeanor. The warmth of her smile and her innate optimism stands out in sharp contrast to her more reserved twin sister, Flora, and no one would ever guess after a single encounter with this clumsy young maid that she is technically a hostage of the Nohrian military. Both Felicia and Flora are the daughters of Kilma, the chieftan of the Ice Tribes, and they were abducted when they were young as a means of quelling possible rebellion from their homelands. Although it's clear that Flora still holds a deep loyalty to her bretheren and a need for justice against King Garon, Felicia is-- thankfully-- oblivious to the grander political schemes that happen around her.

In keeping with the themes of loyalty to family by blood or by nurture that are present within this game, Felicia stands as one of the two figures who choose to side with the people she cares about and loves and fight against their homelands and even siblings in the grander scheme of the overarching plot. While Felicia, in her moments where she seems to be fairly observant, clearly cares for her sister and her family in the Ice Tribes, she can't bring herself to hurt Corrin-- one of the few people in her life who has supported her regardless of her personal flaws. In fact, despite her capabilities as a soldier on the battlefield, she would much rather not fight with anyone if she can avoid it. She states repeatedly, to Corrin and other characters, that there are more than enough people who can fight in their rag-tag little army-- what they need is more people who can clean and cook, which is what Felicia strives to be for the sake of the army.

Unfortunately, her clumsiness is so severe that she isn't able to carry a tray of tea across a room without spilling it at some point. The sounds of plates breaking, glasses shattering, and cries of alarm as scalding tea is accidentally dumped onto some poor soul are common when Felicia is around, much to her own chagrin. Although she is a dedicated and eager worker, her lack of confidence in her own abilities consistently gets in the way of her being the graceful and elegant maid that she wishes to be. Her sister Flora is her role model in this regard, as is the butler, Jakob, who also chooses to follow Corrin regardless of the path they take in the game. Indications that she is anything less than worthy of being a maid in Corrin's service because of her clumsiness are the one thing that will earn a temperamental and feisty reaction from the normally bubbly young woman, and she will refuse to accept those arguments or anything less than an apology from the other party in this regard. Royalty and her equals are treated the same in this regard. Long time allies and strangers, similarly, are also treated the same.

However, the problem that Felicia faces in this regard is the fact that she is a far better fighter in the field than she is a maid. Thanks to the firm and kind hand of the old soldier Gunter, who guarded Corrin and the castle where they all resided, Felicia became a competent fighter to such a degree that Flora is jealous of her skill, and the Hoshidan ninja Saizo repeatedly tries to convince Felicia to become his apprentice until she explains to him the exact reasons why she can't accept such an offer, and why she still innocently believes that she will be able to excel in her service regardless of her lack of skill.

Felicia's innocence and desire to help others is both a strength and a flaw for her. It's a strength because it allows her to surmount the odds and firmly believe that everything will turn out all right in the end, but it works against her because she can easily be blinded to what's happening around her and will jump into dangerous situations without forethought of the consequences. This is how Flora and their father, Kilma, were able to keep her in the dark about their political positions for so many years, and why she put herself at great risk to rescue Corrin from a deadly fever when they were children. Helping others is the same as helping herself, in her opinion-- she feels useless if she's not able to help the people who have helped her. And, even though she is observant enough to notice Prince Xander hiding as he watched her practice her duties as a maid in secret, she simply chooses to see the best in everyone and everything around her.

During the times when she can't lie to herself about what's happening around her, Felicia does break down into tears. But, she also recovers from those tears quickly and rises above the call of duty to stand next to the people she cares for regardless of the trials that may come. Her loyalty and dedication serves as the source of her strength and, even though she trips and cries her way through the battlefield every step of the way, her strength never once wavers. She is an excellent retainer because of this, regardless of her skills as either a combatant or a maid.

AU Deviation: (The nature of the AU is such that the character's personal history will be different, be it in simple or dramatic ways. Due to a much different upbringing, we expect there to be at least some variation, even if small. Spend at least one paragraph detailing in what ways the character differs from their canon incarnation.)

Canon Abilities: The most notable 'power' of Felicia's is her affinity with ice. While she's not capable of feats like calling spears of ice to rain from the sky, her association with the element is enough to cause the ambient temperature surrounding her to drop to freezing levels when she is angered or in a panic-- to the point where it prompts Saizo to try recruiting her as an apprentice ninja over the course of their Support conversations, much to her own dismay. This particular skill has been displayed in comical situations as well, such as in a 4-Koma omake where Felicia uses this affinity to 'save' Corrin from scalding hot tea (that Felicia made herself), only to have it turn frozen solid. Additionally, she's capable of utilizing the Ice Tribe's traditional technique of drawing heat unto herself on an instinctive level, as she used it to save a young Corrin from a deadly fever....only to leave herself severely ill as a consequence.

This affinity for ice also manifests as a frosted, snowy flurry around Felicia when she attacks with her knives, although this may mostly be an aesthetic effect within the game's graphic system.

Otherwise, on a practical level, the Maid class in Fire Emblem Fates is typically treated as a Promoted Class in the Troubador line, but Felicia has it as her base class. Like Troubadors, Maids are capable of using Staves for Healing and other supportive skills on the battle field, and they use throwing daggers or shuriken as their primary weapons.

Class skills learned by Felicia are Devoted Partner (where Corrin receives a boost in attack and defense if Felicia is their Support), Demoiselle (where male allies within a close radius receive a boost to their Evasion), Live to Serve (where Felicia gains a boost in HP of the same amount that she heals for an ally), and Tomebreaker (where Felicia gains a significant rise in Hit Rate and Evasion against enemies who wield Tomes -- effectively Magicians).

Enlightened Abilities: Ice-type, Master of Battle

(While your character will not have access to their canon abilities, they will instead gain access to up to two Pokémon types as outlined here: http://www.serebii.net/xy/typechart.shtml

Through these types, they will be able to take on an ability set that can mimic their canon abilities. Additionally, they will gain access to special trainer abilities as detailed here: http://bravenewmods.dreamwidth.org/715.html

While filling out this section, a good format would be to describe initial abilities and the way the abilities will develop after the first and second evolutions.

If your character has no canon powers, they may still be an Enlightened. However, we ask that the abilities you choose generally make some sense for the character, whether it's related to personality or other canon considerations.

While complex vehicles are beyond the technology level of Union, characters may, as part of their overall composition, use Enhanced items that have aspects of an available Pokémon. A character may begin with a single Enhanced item, such as a sword that contains the Fire type. This is generally recommended to be similar to something they use in canon.)

Starter Pokémon: (Pick one from the list found here: http://bravenewmods.dreamwidth.org/968.html. Additionally, you may pick a single common Pokémon from the map post found here: http://bravenewmods.dreamwidth.org/5884.html from any of the Verdant Forest or Old City areas.

If you have the "Far from Ordinary" perk, you may pick two starters and one Verdant Forest/Old City Common. Starter Pokémon need not share your type. You are not required to pick a starter; you may start with no Pokémon if desired.)

Notes/Special Considerations: If you have special things you want to do with your character that can potentially impact the plot such as giving them an ancient power from a clan thought long extinct, this is the place to put it. It's suggested that you contact the moderators beforehand to hash things out if you want to do anything dramatic. You may also PM or IM one of the moderators beforehand if you wish to get the section pre-approved or ask questions on what is and is not allowed.

SAMPLES
(NOTE: You may link a previous entry or thread, including testrun or musebox threads (but NOT Dear Mun), for one or both samples. However, we want to see the character in the setting of Brave New World and specifically in their AU for at least one sample.)

First-Person: (Also known as “commentspam.” This is from the character’s perspective and helps us determine how well you grasp your character’s voice. The minimum is six sentences. If we deem that there is not enough spoken or written dialogue, we will ask you for more. If you link an outside entry or thread, the minimum is 10 comments from your character in one thread/with one character.)

Third-Person: (This is written in prose from an independent narrator’s perspective. Here we want to see an insight into your character’s unspoken behavior -- actions, thoughts, their view of their world, etc. The minimum here is two paragraphs. If we do not get a good sense of your character’s behavior, we will ask for more. If you link an outside entry or thread, the minimum is 20 comments from your character in two threads/with two characters.)

If desired, you may answer some of the following questions in lieu of samples. The questions must be answered in-character, as if they are being asked by a teacher, mentor, or superior. If your character is lying in their answer, please identify it as a lie. The purpose of these is to get an idea of how you will play your character in lieu of the other sample options. 4 questions answered can be used as a substitute for a first-person sample, and 6 questions answered can be used as a substitute for a third-person sample. Both samples may be replaced in this manner. If the character doesn't say enough in their answer, we may request a few more answers for an acceptable sample.
